My experience with distance learning came at a time in my life similar to many which was in 2020 at the start of the corona virus pandemic. It was half way through my senior year of high school and lasted until my sophomore year of college. While I had to participate in distance learning under unfortunate circumstances, it did have its perks. It allowed me to have a little more control over my education schedule and I had access to all classroom resources at home.  Open educational resources at resources that anyone can use at anytime and are typically distributed online. Brain pop is an example of an open educational resource. It provides educational videos on a variety of subjects for a multitude of grade levels. Its free and you do not need an account to have access to the site.  Brain Pop

Creating the website was an enjoyable experience. It was good practice for creating future class sites, and allowed me to better understand what information will be expected to be given. The creative freedom to design the website as we please made the assignment more interesting and allowed for personal touches. I did however, forget to modify one of the images before I turned in the assignment, but I have made that change now.  Classroom Website Diego is incredibly useful in the classroom for a multitude of reasons. It allows for collaboration between students and teachers, and is a great tool for annotating documents. This website can be a useful tool outside of the classroom as well and in other professions. Being able to collaboratively annotate documents can be helpful for many job fields.  School is where many students, like myself,  are first introduced to advanced technologies such as desktop computers and smart boards. It is essential for teachers to know how to ...

The particular website that I looked at is for a school in New Jersey. The teacher's website that I looked at is one of a PreK-3 teacher. On her page she had class resources page, a documents page, an inside our classroom page, and an announcements page. It is easy to navigate through and everything is well organized. She also included class photos which provides a personal element for the parents because it allows for them to see what is going on inside the classroom. Miss Danielle's Class In my classroom I plan to utilize different online tools to better communicate with parents and efficiently accomplish my own tasks. I would like to maintain an online page if my school allows me to. If not, I would like to collect a list of parent emails at the beginning of the school year so that I can still maintain communication. I will also most likely utilize other online tools such as Microsoft Applications to create many of my in class materials.  Using Canvas as a work space was a...

Diigo is an interesting application and unlike any one that I have used in my previous academic experience. I like the ability to share PDFs and websites with our class as a group. It is also really helpful when having to do readings for class online. Its annotation features for web based articles and other readings is incredibly useful.  Using blogger this semester has been really beneficial for me. It has allowed me to not only utilize me knowledge, but attach it to real world scenarios. It will be a useful tool in later courses or teaching experiences as it provides me with resources that we have engaged with throughout this course. I would like to continue recapping and applying my knowledge after this blog has served its academic purpose.  A Web 2.0 resource that I take advantage of frequently outside of those we have discussed in class would be Google Docs and other Google applications. I use Google Docs as a staging area of sorts for most of my discussion board posts fo...

My early experiences using Twitter took place when I was in high school. I didn’t use it often, and mostly only had it because my peers did. I kept it downloaded on my phone for years and would receive notifications sparsely from the few accounts I did follow. However, Twitter can be used for creating beneficial connections for future career opportunities. If I were to use Twitter again it would most likely be for that reason only.  The digital divide can affect student success in school because some people may not have technology such as laptops or tablets or decent Wi-Fi. If technology is the mode in which most of the curriculum is being taught it would be inequitable. In order to avoid the ever growing potential of this issue, teachers can allow students to turn in assignments handwritten. They can also make certain that any assignment that must be done so by using technology accessible to the students at school.  Academic software that I would like to include in my classro...

I chose to cover the K-2 benchmarks. One that stood out to me was the first standard which was communication and collaboration and modeling and simulations. Essentially, for the communication and collaboration standard the student needs to be able to differentiate  between multiple digital tools that can be used for communication or collaboration,  perform searches of basic keywords and communicate information with others, collaborate with others to solve problems using technology, and give and receive constructive criticism on a collaborated project. For the modeling and simulations standard the student needs to be able to define simulation and understand the concepts presented by a simple simulation, explain how models and simulations are used solve real issues regarding science and engineering, explain how models can represent real systems, and use models to come up with solutions to questions alone and with others. Based on my current skill set, I believe that I coul...
