My early experiences using Twitter took place when I was in high school. I didn’t use it often, and mostly only had it because my peers did. I kept it downloaded on my phone for years and would receive notifications sparsely from the few accounts I did follow. However, Twitter can be used for creating beneficial connections for future career opportunities. If I were to use Twitter again it would most likely be for that reason only.
The digital divide can affect student success in school because some people may not have technology such as laptops or tablets or decent Wi-Fi. If technology is the mode in which most of the curriculum is being taught it would be inequitable. In order to avoid the ever growing potential of this issue, teachers can allow students to turn in assignments handwritten. They can also make certain that any assignment that must be done so by using technology accessible to the students at school.
Academic software that I would like to include in my classroom would be Microsoft Word and other Microsoft applications. This is because if students choose to pursue higher education, it is most likely that the papers they’re turning in will have to be typed. I would also like to include the use of the online resources that are offered at the school, so that there is access for everyone. Knowing how to use technology and online resources is almost as important as knowing where to find them.
